Membership Information
The Minnesota Retired State Employees Association (MRSEA) has been serving retired Minnesota state employees ever since the 1940's.
In 1978 the Minnesota Retired State Employees Association decided to affiliate with AFSCME on the national level. We became retiree chapter 6 in affiliation with Minnesota AFSCME Council 6. At the State Capitol and in Washington D.C., AFSCME helps to protect our interests. Our affiliation gives us a strong voice in Washington as part of a nationwide network of public retiree chapters, all affiliated with AFSCME and its 220,000 retiree members. Our diverse membership comes from all retired state employees, not just those who were AFSCME members as state workers. Retired managers, professional employees, state troopers, judges and even former legislators also belong to MRSEA. All are equally welcomed as members and play a vital role in the life of our organization.
